REVUE OF BLADE RUNNER 2049

Officer K aka Joe (Ryan Gosling), a new blade runner for the Los Angeles Police Department, unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. His discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former blade runner who’s been missing for 30 years.

This film should be advertised with a warning “Bladerunner 2049 Is For Geeky Audiences Only” because I have seen so many complaints that it was super boring and because it ran for 2hrs 43mins, is way too long. The people who made these complaints are obviously not true Sci-Fi fans because to me this film was remarkably imaginative leaving me in overwhelming awe at its production. Look ehn, there is no need to pretend that this film will appeal to everyone, it was made for a specific audience and these people (like me) were satisfied.

So what exactly was good in Bladerunner 2049? Glad you asked! Let me break it down!

The CGI was a dream! Watching it, I couldn’t fathom how humans can be so imaginative as to create the world of 2049. Their imagination was literally out of this world especially the animation of Officer K’s (virtual) love interest which gave me chills whenever I saw her.

Hans Zimmer has yet again laid a virtuoso music score because the retro punk sound which kept going at a feverish pitch (similar to the loud organ that he did for Interstellar) keeps you on the edge. I hope I don’t jinx it but I see an Oscar nomination for the sound and score of this film.

Lastly, I am pleased that Harrison Ford who was the Blade Runner from the original film reprised his role which gave the film a feeling of continuity as opposed to a remake.

Bladerunner 2049 is the film that Ghost In The Shell should have been. It is a worthy sequel to the 1982 Ridley Scott Film but I don’t see it raking so much cash because it does not have a wide appeal but as you can see, I liked it very much.

I will recommend Bladerunner 2049 (especially in IMAX) but I must warn you that if you aren’t really into Sci-Fi, don’t bother and waste your hard earned cash. But If like me, you are into that kinda thing, click HERE and get cheap movie tickets to go see it and then hit me up on Twitter Instagram or Facebook and let me know what you think.
