Revue of MOMS AT WAR
Moms At War is a comedy about two mothers Ebubechukwu (Omoni Oboli) and Olaide (Funke Akindele aka Jenifa) and their teenage children, who write a prestigious exam to be admitted into an international scholars program. However, everything goes wrong when their children must compete against each other for a place in the program.
I will come out and say it- Moms At War far exceeded my expectations. I must admit that I entertained a lot of skepticism because I expected Moms At War to be another slapdash comedy but I must confess that it was genuinely funny! One thing that made this film stand out was the characters with Omoni pulling off her Ajebo Mother role with finesse and you can trust Funke to be the quintessential bush mama. Funke gave an awesome performance but she couldn’t help her inner Jenifa from occasionally surfacing… and we can forgive her for this.
However, there were some scenes that were drawn and could have been done away with because they didn’t really add much to the film. Some of the side stories and subplots which were intended to build the overall feel of the film could have been done away with, luckily though, there weren’t too many such scenes.
Moms At War is a strikingly funny film about friendship, sisterhood and most importantly, about family. The film’s conclusion was satisfactory and will makes for family fun if you have planned a cinema family day out for this Eid (Sallah) holiday. Its showing in cinemas so when you see the film, let me know what you think in the comment below or on social media (Twitter and Facebook )
Have a great sallah celebration guys!
