Everything that could go wrong, went wrong and came to a head as a family feud broke out spearheaded by Dozie’s mother, Obianuju (Ireti Doyle) and Dunni’s mother Tinuade (Sola Sobowale a.k.a Toyin Tomato). It escalates to a battle for supremacy between Team bourgeois and Team faaji.

You will not see a funnier movie this year. It checks all the boxes that you could want in a comedy; Storytelling(P), Drama (P), Acting (P), Plot (P) and most importantly, it was genuinely funny. There was no dull moment in the movie with something always happening and just when you think nothing else could happen, it does.

Funny, I have always known Kemi Adetiba as a phenomenal music video director and I am not sure if this is her movie directorial debut but she did an amazing job. Her bias for music videos was pretty evident in scenes that involved music because those scenes looked like one extended movie video…and this is a good thing because it ensured that we didn’t get bored and zone out.

Another thing I was impressed with is that even though Banky and Adesuwa were the main characters, the movie wasn’t just about them. Everyone in the movie seemed to have their own story which was well told in quick and interesting scenes. At one time, the smoking hot Beverly Naya was running the show, then suddenly RMD and his “Small Chops” took center stage and then Ikechukwu then came in with his own mischief. I like the way everyone’s backstory was woven into the plot of the movie and tied neatly in a bow. You can be sure that ethnic stereotypes were highlighted and lampooned.

I must say, all the actors brought their A game. RMD was his usual legendary self, Ireti be classy as crazy, Banky W (who I didn’t expect much from) was amazing and Ali Baba was Ali Baba. However, Toyin Tomato was my stand out actor- that woman is just ridiculously funny. It was also nice having cameos by the likes of Emma Oh My God, Frank Donga and Saka.

Everyone knows that Weddings are full of Drama and Thrills and The Wedding Party brings all the Comedy and Drama you could want in a movie. Y’all need to go and see this because it is genuinely funny and more!

I always want to hear what you think so you can leave a comment below or hit me up Twitter and Facebook.

As always, thanks for dropping in and come back again will ya?
