However, the debt collector double-crosses him and of course he must feel the legendary wrath of Jonathan Wick.

I greeted the news of a 2nd part of the movie with trepidation but my anxiety thawed within 20 minutes of the movie because though the film was about revenge, it wasn’t about a car or a dog but about a worthy cause such as honor albeit among assassins. Apparently, the organization Wick belongs to is more elaborate then we get to see in the first installment. Here, it is impressed upon us that it is a much regulated organization with a structured hierarchy bound by codes and rules which must never be flouted.

This brings me to the burning question of whether this chapter was better than the first. My response, I would dare say it was equally as good. The producers had an arduous task of doing one better and this wasn’t easy because we already know what Wick is capable of and the element of surprise wasn’t available. So rather than recreate Wick’s character, the producers decided to expand it and me thinks this was a good idea. Another thing I found appealing was that he was given worthy opponents one of whom was another assassin called Cassian played by Common.

Conversely, I didn’t like that in an attempt to expand Wick’s character, he did way too much talking. This sort of demystified him because we have always known him as a man of few words – the silent, brooding type. Again, I think his fight patterns were too repetitive with him doing a flip over his adversaries then shooting them in the head. Honestly though, we never tire of headshots so I will let that slide.

Unlike Liam Neeson’s Taken 2, John Wick Chapter 2 was a great movie expanding on a great character. I like the adversaries that were introduced in this part and just as the movie poster above depicts, everyone wants a piece of John Wick.

  3. Nice one The Maveriq (Your name surely reminds me of the guy that flew an Apache helicopter to save his friends in Need For Speed Movie ☺), it’s quite unfair this movie just premiered in the Nigerian cinemas last week. For an ardent fan of action/blockbuster movies like me, I felt very bad. With this review as a positive encouragement, I will definitely be seeing the movie as soon as I can. The fact that Wick Organisation gave him tips towardsthe end of the first installment, makes your praise for their structure very relatable.

Like I said, I’m seeing the movie ASAP!

By the way, Happy Anniversary to you guys, may all your expectations be fulfilled.

    Cheers guys. Well done.
