Revue of A PIECE OF ME- The poetry collection of Ore Badmus

A Piece of Me is a collection of poetry by Ore Badmus where she talks about personal and societal issues such as depression, mysticism, love, feminism and even self-realization.

When I bumped into Ore and she asked me to check out her poetry on Instagram, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect but I wasn’t ready for the goldmine I found.

I found a collection of poetry with so much range, depth and meaning, touching on so many social and personal issues. My favourite of the collection is the series finale called At The Table which spoke about the plight of the women folk and their fight for recognition. I loved how the pieced ended in triumph and victory for the women. Her use of metaphor and rhyme and rhythm for effect made her pieces very effervescent. All Ore’s poetry are recited by her with vivaciousness and underlined with nice scores which served to intensify the emotions being expressed. Funny thing is that though the collection is basically poetry recital, Ore managed to put in some acting into her videos and this transmitted the emotions she was trying to express.

However, I think her audio quality could have been better because her voice wasn’t properly blended with the score and her editing was fair but could have been better. A professional sound mixer can make the quality of work better.

Why not check her Instagram TV @theorebadmus and get a feel of what I am talking about.
