Revue of KNIVES OUT
When renowned crime novelist Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer) is found dead at his estate just after his 85th birthday, the inquisitive and debonair Detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) is mysteriously enlisted to investigate. From Harlan’s dysfunctional family to his devoted staff, Blanc sifts through a web of red herrings and self-serving lies to uncover the truth behind Harlan’s “untimely” death.
The premise of this film may sound like something out of an Agatha Christie book, but it’s not based on any book. It however pays homage to classic whodunit mysteries. Frankly speaking, there haven’t been any good murder mysteries recently and the wit and spin of Knives Out is a welcome reprieve for us mystery lovers. The best thing about Knives Out is that it’s fun! The twists will leave you guessing at every turn – when you think you have solved the mystery, you find out that you were on the wrong trail all along. Finally, when you find out WHO did it, the next big question is WHY the person did it and HOW the person did it.
I must however warn that if you aren’t one of those that can concentrate or focus for long periods, Knives Out may not be the film for you because if your mind wanders for a bit or sneak a peek at your phone, by the time you come back, you are long lost in the wilderness never to be found again.
Knives Out is a witty and stylish whodunit guaranteed to keep audiences guessing until the very end. I really enjoyed my time at the cinema and I am curious to hear what you think, so let me know in the comment section below or reach me on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
Have an awesome week!
