Smallfoot is an animated musical that stars the voice talent of Channing Tatum as Migo an good-natured Yeti whose world gets turned upside down when he discovers something that he didn’t know existed — a human. He soon faces banishment from his snowy home when the rest of the villagers refuse to believe his fantastic tale. Hoping to prove them wrong, Migo embarks on an epic journey to find the mysterious creature that can put him back in good graces with his simple community.

Smallfoot is a feel good animated film and even though it was especially made for the kids, the adults will leave the cinema with a warm fuzzy feeling inside because Smallfoot had some nice songs that are both entertaining and contain deep meaning. The plot of this film centers around the need for tolerance despite our differences and the songs harped on this in an entertaining way. I particularly liked Common’s jam where he sang about lies being told for the greater good- that song was deep mehn and I am sure it went over the heads of the kids but the adults will appreciate it.

Even though Smallfoot was entertaining, it was quite forgettable. I am not sure if it had to do with the color (or the lack thereof) of the film or that the plot of the film isn’t one that has staying power, but something about Smallfoot made it seem rather ordinary. I admit that the songs were nice but they just aren’t as memorable as Frozen or even Trolls. Also, even though the voice talents did an awesome job but they also lacked that charisma to give one an unforgettable experience.

I think I am just over analyzing Smallfoot and this may dampen the feel-good feeling that it elicits from the kids and adults alike. So don’t over think Smallfoot, just go and enjoy it and when you do, please leave a comment in the comment section below or on Twitter and Facebook.
