Ready Player One is set in a near-future dystopian Earth, where the population spends most of its time in an interconnected virtual space called the OASIS. When its founder dies and bequeaths ownership to the first person to find a hidden treasure within by playing games and solving puzzles, a race ensues between a young man and his friends, and an evil megacorporation that wants to control OASIS for themselves.

I know this is just March but Ready Player One is already my best film this year because it’s going to take a lot for any movie to top the spectacle that I just witnessed. In fact, I am going out on a limb too predict it as an Oscar winner next year for its CGI and sound. So what did I like about this film? Ladies and gentlemen, I liked- nay loved everything!

Ready Player One is every geeks fantasy and even if you aren’t a geek, you will enjoy this film because there is so much pop culture in it to keep everyone happy. There was every popular game in it- there was Mortal Combat, Street Fighter and even Atari. If you are film fan, there was so much cult classics littered everywhere. Look out for Robocop, Child’s Play aka Chucky, Kong, Jurassic Park, Alien, The Shinning, Back To The Future and ALL your favorite films. Even pop music wasn’t left out. I can imagine how much copyright permissions the producers would have had to pay for to feature such classics in the film. Ready Player One was strategically released at Easter time because there were so many Easter eggs littered everywhere and believe me when I say if you blink, you will miss it. Keep your eyes peeled. But the biggest easter egg is Spielberg casting a spitting image of his younger self as the lead character! Mind = Blown!!

Talking about peeling one’s eyes, if you want to see Ready Player One try and see it in IMAX because this film is a visual spectacle that will have your eyes darting from corner to corner of the huge screen trying to feed on the stunning visual display that unfolds before your very eyes. I am not exaggerating when I say that the CGI will make Blade Runner 2049 seem like child’s play- this is the film that Valerian tried to be…and failed.

Based on Ernest Cline’s 2011 novel called Ready Player One, the plot of the film was simple yet exquisitely executed. Steven Spielberg shows us why he is a master at this game as he skillfully executed this film with finesse. The actors were fantastic whether as real humans or as avatars, you could relate to every one of them as their characters just suck you in. I know there were flaws with this film but I presently cannot see it over the beauty that is Ready Player One.

Look at me swooning over this film but don’t take my word for it, so go to the cinema and see it for yourself (preferably in IMAX), Do get your movie tickets HERE and afterwards leave your comment in the comment section below or on my Twitter or Facebook page and let me know what you think about this Ready Player One.

Happy Easter yall!

  1. I’m normally not a fan of fast and loud movies but this one was wonderful. I loved it and I think your Awesome -O- Metre is apt. I rated it 8/10 ❤️
