However, while Elastigirl is fighting the villain named Screenslaver, Mr Incredible is facing his greatest challenge ever…managing the homestead!

So we waited 14 whole years and this is what they could come up with? Guys, Incredibles 2 was freaking awesome and worth the wait and even more. Unsurprisingly, the cinema had more agbaya adults than children – even though some adults came with kids as fronts.

I am so glad that Incredibles 2 lived up to the reputation of the first one because it was so delightful and so much fun with a lot of action and quite a bit of moral lessons thrown into it. I particularly liked that the producers have ridden the wave of feminism sweeping the world recently by projecting Elastigirl as the main character with all the other characters complementing her.

The plot was decent and entertaining with a lot of back story about children coming of age and family values being put in the forefront. The comedy was funny and didn’t seem forced and I particularly pleased that all our favorite characters reprised their roles. Samuel L Jackson was his usual crazy self, Mr Incredible was his usual lovable and endearing self while Edna was…Edna. However, my favorite character is Jack-Jack the youngest kid who while discovering his capabilities was a handful. My favorite scene is the encounter between Jack-jack and a raccoon which pushed me into hysterical laughter.

I don’t mean to oversell it but Incredibles 2 was Incredible (Pun Intended). However, don’t take my word for it so why not go see it for yourself? Do take the kids along because they will get a kick out of it too. PS. If you have photosensitive epilepsy or photosensitive migraine, you may need to exercise caution as there are a bit of flash photography and flashing images.

Eid Mubarak everyone!

Ramsey along with his trusty manager (Chigurl Omerua), then go on a humorous quest to bring down this imposter and reclaim Ramsey’s career

It was refreshing to see an actor take on a role playing himself in a movie because that’s not something we have seen in Nollywood. However, when I saw the poster of the film, I actually expected a film similar to Dangerous Twins a film that coincidentally starred Ramsey. Such films are usually for directors who want to show off their camera skills by getting one actor to play 2 roles. But when the film started I was relieved to find out that this wasn’t the direction of Crazy People.

My relief however was short-lived because it was replaced with another disappointment. This time my dissatisfaction was that the film which was supposed to be suspenseful had a plot that was so obvious that Stevie Wonder could see it from a mile away. I don’t want to give much away but the name of the film is literally EVERYTHING about the film. I have always complained that many Nollywood films haven’t mastered the art of holding the audience spellbound till the end and this film is another example at subpar story telling.

Furthermore, for a film that was sold as a comedy, there really wasn’t much to laugh about. Chigurl is one of my favorite comediennes but her role was quite muted. Ramsey showed us why he is a veteran in the industry but quite honestly, even he couldn’t save this film from being a snooze fest. Throwing all the celebs and popular faces didn’t do much to lift this film either.

I must note however that the production of the film was quite decent but I think it’s about time that Nollywood stops priding themselves with high quality productions as this should be the standard and not the exception. Honestly, the end of Crazy People couldn’t have come sooner- I don’t mean that the suspense was too much, I mean that the film needed to end sooner so I could go home and cry. Even the attempt to shoehorn some moral lessons into the climax of the film fell flat on its face.

Other than the production of Crazy People, there really wasn’t much Joy in the film but if you want to go see it, please click HERE to get your discounted movie tickets and afterwards leave your comment in the comment section below or on my Twitter or Facebook page and let me know what you think about Crazy People.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”JUMANJI: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_empty_space height=”25px”][vc_column_text css_animation=”left-to-right”]In Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, the tables are turned as four teenagers in detention are sucked into the world of Jumanji.  When they discover an old video game console with a game they’ve never heard of, they are immediately thrust into the game’s jungle setting, into the bodies of their avatars, played by Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan.  What they discover is that you don’t just play Jumanji – Jumanji plays you.  They’ll have to go on the most dangerous adventure of their lives, or they’ll be stuck in the game forever….

Admittedly I had my reservations that Jumanji will be one of those reboots that won’t be as good as the original especially since I heard that Jumanji will be a video game rather than a board game.  But it took all of 20 minutes to put my uncertainties to rest. For one, this movie wasn’t a reboot as I expected it to be, it turned out to be sequel. The first few minutes laid down a connection with the old film and a nod to the legendary Robbie Williams and then takes on a life of its own. The direction of creating a unique identity for this film was a fantastic idea because to be honest, no one can better Robbie’s version. It was a good idea that the producers made the characters get sucked into the game rather than bring the jungle to their neighborhood.

The characters also went a long way in making this film very humorous- Dwayne Johnson brought his charisma and Kevin Hart his quirkiness and Jack Black brought his ridiculousness and of course, Jonas was there for the eye candy. Though the villain (Bobby Cannavale) had so much promise but turned out to be quite a letdown but I guess he wasn’t the pivot of the film so he was de-emphasized.

However, one thing I found curious was there was no explanation on how the board game became a video game. I can imagine that the producers were stumped on how to pull it off and just decided to ignore it altogether. Another confusing stuff was the conclusion of the film as regards how Alex (Nick Jonas) got back to his old life.

Anyways, Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle tapped into nostalgia to pull off a decent comedy film and makes for some good Christmas fun so click HERE and get cheap movie tickets to go see it and then hit me up on Twitter  or Facebook and let’s talk about it.
